Choosing the Right Cane for you!
Determine the approximate height of the walking cane you should use by measuring the distance between your wrist and the floor when your arms rest at your side. The one instance when you should consider measuring yourself differently is if you have a condition that does not allow you to stand up straight. Measure the distance between the floor and wherever your wrist is as you walk. The number of inches between your wrist and the floor is the length that your cane should be. If possible, turn the cane upside down and mark the cane at your wrist for the proper height.
In addition to the height of the cane, consider the strength of the cane you use. A walking cane is more akin to an extra leg that provides you with extra support. You may consider buying your cane at Preston Home Medical Supplies so you can fully inspect the cane's shaft size, durability and handle size to determine whether it will support you as well as you hope and allow us to properly size it for you.
